The Council continuously monitors global legislative and regulatory developments affecting maritime trade, including environmental regulation, sanctions compliance, trade controls, and security frameworks.

We engage to ensure that regulatory outcomes remain practical, enforceable, and aligned with operational feasibility.

WHAT WE DO

Through its operating partners and committees, IMTF Policy Council supports:

  • Vessel employment and chartering strategy

  • Negotiation and structuring of charter parties to safeguard owners’ interests

  • Full commercial operation of vessels on behalf of principals, including acting as disponent owner where applicable

  • Dispute handling and third-party claims coordination with P&I Clubs and maritime legal counsel

  • Maritime security escort coordination

  • Worldwide bunker supply arrangements

  • Full commercial management services

  • Vessel Sale & Purchase (S&P), including transaction support and financing assistance for buyers and sellers

The Council currently supports the commercial management of bulk carriers, tankers, and container vessels.

IMTF Policy Council monitors global maritime regulations, sanctions frameworks, and trade controls impacting international shipping and trade finance.
