Lebanon Maritime News – Beirut Port Focus (December 18, 2025)
Lebanon's flagship Port of Beirut continues to show resilience and growth in late 2025. Despite ongoing regional tensions and the lingering effects of the 2020 explosion, operations are robust:
Key Updates:
Active Traffic: Real-time data shows 12 vessels arrived in the past 24 hours, with 6 more expected soon. The port handles ~1M TEU/year and serves as a vital Eastern Mediterranean hub.
2025 Performance: Strong first half with increased imports, re-exports, and automotive trade. July hit a record ~100,000 TEUs (highest since 2019), and Jan-Aug throughput reached ~583,000 TEUs.
Recovery Progress: Managed by CMA CGM (container terminal), full capacity restored with expansions targeting 2.1M TEUs. Reconstruction plans advance, funded partly by port revenues.
Regional Context: Amid Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire (extended to early 2025), no major disruptions reported—ports operate normally, supporting trade to Syria, Jordan, and beyond.
Beirut remains a key gateway for RoRo, containers, and bulk cargo. Watch for more on Tripoli's growing role in northern trade.
